During the twelve weeks this exersice should be done every class so that the children learn the 10 commandments. DO THIS EVERY WEEK FOR 10 WEEKS PAPER PLATE: perhaps one of the greatest inventions over time has been the paper plate. It is inexpensive, easy to use and available almost anywhere in the world, easy to store. In each week for the first 10 weeks while the children are learning the 10 commandments you should have them create a small craft before you start this exercise. You will need, Paper plates, paint or stickers (Tabernacle colors only) Writting markers of your choice, hole punch and string or long pipe cleaners.
1. Take the bottle caps and have them PRE WRITTEN (before class each week) with the number of the week on the outside. THIS is week ONE so the number 1 will be on the OUTSIDE and on the INSIDE of the cap underneath the LETTER C. Each week you will prepare the cap's before class. Like week 2 would be the number 2 and on the inside the letter D and week 3 would be the number 3 and the inside the letter E and so on. 2. Give out the paper plates. 3. Say out loud the COMMANDMENT for that week. This is week 1 so the FIRST commandment is Thou shalt have no other god's before me. Have the children repeat this and have them print it inside the Paper plate. 4. On the bottom of the plate have them put the word HOME 3 times accorss the plate. Do not explain what HOME means yet. Later in this lesson we will explain HOME to the children. Examples below The children take these HOME with them at the end of class each week. Let them be creative with the paints if you use paints, and the stickers. It is part of bringing out the creativity in them. Learning to express themselves from the heart.

I remember that one time a group of people traveled for many years until they came to a land of milk and honey. It was promised to them by God. It was to be their home. A land where they could all build houses and be together. Can you spell out home with me? Ready: H O M E
Repeat 1 is home and home is C then have the children repeat it with you. 1 is home and home is C clap your hands 123. 1 is home and home is C clap your hands in the key of C. C is 1 then comes 2 now clap your hands just for 2 2 is D and then comes 3 so now I know that 3 is E As soldier run to a cadence it must be fun that you sing these numbers like a cadence also.
