These instructions are given every week. It is something easy and you do it every week. So please stop and take some time to read through this.

During the twelve weeks this exersice should be done every class so that the children learn the 10 commandments.   DO THIS  EVERY WEEK FOR 10 WEEKS

PAPER PLATE: perhaps one of the greatest inventions over time has been the paper plate. It is inexpensive, easy to use and available almost anywhere in the world, easy to store. In each week for the first 10 weeks while the children are learning the 10 commandments you should have them create a small craft before you start this exercise.

You will need,  Paper plates, paint or stickers (Tabernacle colors only) Writting markers of your choice, hole punch and string or long pipe cleaners.

Stickers can be purchased from Oriental treasures or your local school supply store I have found Oriental Treasures to be the best place to purchase stickers by the large rolls. They are colorful and Biblical and wont cost you much.

Water or pop bottle caps  I use bottle caps to create all kinds of exercises and crafts. Be creative yourself. You will be amazed at what you can do.

1. Take the bottle caps and have them PRE WRITTEN (before class each week) with the number of the week on the outside. THIS is week ONE so the number 1 will be on the OUTSIDE and on the INSIDE of the cap underneath the LETTER  C.  Each week you will prepare the cap's before class. Like week 2  would be the number 2 and on the inside the letter D and week 3 would be the number 3 and the inside the letter E and so on.

2. Give out the paper plates.

3. Say out loud the COMMANDMENT for that week. This is week 1 so the FIRST commandment is  Thou shalt have no other god's before me.  Have the children repeat this and have them print it inside the Paper plate.

4. On the bottom of the plate have them put the word HOME  3 times accorss the plate. Do not explain what HOME means yet. Later in this lesson we will explain HOME to the children. Examples below

Common items found around the house can be used in the Keyboards for Christ Music Program like paper platesUp and down the mountain as the children learn the 10 commandmentsUp and down the mountain as the chidlren learn the 10 commandments

The children take these HOME with them at the end of class each week. Let them be creative with the paints if you use paints, and the stickers. It is part of bringing out the creativity in them. Learning to express themselves from the heart.

REVIEW HOME again                     http://keyboardsforchrist.com/Lesson Example.html#top

I remember that one time a group of people traveled for many years until they came to a land of milk and honey. It was promised to them by God.  It was to be their home.  A land where they could all build houses and be together.   Can you spell out home with me?

Left of the two black keys

Now have each child go over to the keyboard or piano or you can purchase a vinyl keyboard from Music Treasures ( They have a website musictreasures.com) and show you and the class where HOME is ( Number one to the left of the two black keys Make sure that they use their thumb with the right hand. You can also use a black board, or easel, or again paper plates. I purchased an pair of gloves at the Dollar store for a buck and took white out and placed the numbers on the fingers. I wear the glove as I do the exercises in the upcoming weeks. The children get a kick out of it also.

You can also click here to print out a keyboard.

Repeat 1 is home and home is C then have the children repeat it with you.

1 is home and home is C  clap your hands 123.

1 is home and home is C clap your hands in the key of C.

C is 1 then comes 2  now clap your hands just for 2

2 is D and then comes 3 so now I know that 3 is E

As soldier run to a cadence it must be fun that you sing these numbers like a cadence also.

The heart time is very important as it teaches the children about 'ensemble and unity'
