Hi My name is Mr. Clef and I will be here throughout the Keyboards for Christ Program to help teach you about Music. A conductor is the person who helps lead the parts and direct the instruments. So lets get started. (Mr. Clef is a copyrighted symbol of the Keyboards for Christ Muisc Program)
Music, just what is music? The art of arranging sounds in time so as to produce a continuous, unified, and evocative composition, as through melody, harmony, rhythm, and timbre. Its all around you, music. There are the sounds of creation, in the songs of the birds. Music can make you happy, or sad. Let the children tell you what sounds they listened to that very morning or day. The purpose is to start the children to learn how to take time to listen to God's creation and the sounds around them in their everyday living. The program is to teach children to learn to hear and play music from more then just notes. The ear is the passage to the heart and the eyes to the soul.
You will be amazed at the answers you will get, from Dad singing in the shower to a bird on the back porch. That music can be found all around them if they take time to stop, look, and listen. Make sure that the children know the difference between music and sound.
STL. Q-What about sound?
Sounds, how are they made?
( Take a container of water, and have each child drop a penny into the container and explain to them how sound is like the waves made by the penny, the waves are like sound, they travel to the ear.) The ideal thing is to use a TUNING FORK if you have one. Have each child strike the fork and place it into the water and watch the vibrate. This way the child feels and sees.
Tuning forks can be purchased for under $5.00 Click on the picture to go to the page that explains this whole activity to show children about sound.

Sounds are made by vibration. When something vibrates it creates waves that pass through the air to your ears.
Musical instruments make sounds by striking, blowing, plucking or by playing with a bow.
Some sounds are created naturally and others are created electronically. Any object which vibrates will create a sound. The sound could be musical or it could be noisy; but regardless of its quality, the sound was created by a vibrating object.
In music we have what is called ELEMENTS and in the Keyboards for Christ Music Program we will learn 2 of these elements.
Melody
Rhythm
