The Mountain Exercise

The children sign a commandment banner each day and it is hug up in the class.Available from the site map of this program.

1 Thou shalt have no other gods before me

( Have the children repeat number one several times over and over each week stress the next one. Week two for example you stress Thou shalt not worship any graven image have them repeat it over several times.)

2 Thou shalt not worship any graven image

3 Thou shalt not take Gods name in vain

4 Remember the Sabbath to keep it holy

5 Honor thy father and they mother

Well now we have went up the mountain

Now lets go back down the mountain

5. Thou shalt not kill

4. Thou shalt not commit adultery

3. Thou shalt not steal

2. Thou shalt not bear false witness

1. Thou shalt not covet

Have the children raise their right hand and move their fingers as you call out the numbers. Then have them repeat the numbers with you.

Commandment

  print a copy of  Commandment for the Children to color before the exercise each week. Click on  Number of the Commandment. 

Thou shalt have no other gods before me You shall have no other gods before me. God must have first place in our lives. Some people make money their god, and some put fame or entertainment ahead of the one true God.

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image. You shall not make for yourselves an idol. The 2 is bowing down as if to an idol. This causes us to remember that commandment two forbids idol worship.

Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain. You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God. We see an angry 3 saying inappropriate words. A simple "yes" or "no" is sufficient. God's name must be spoken with reverence.
